I talked a little bit in my last article about how some or all of the disagreements I had with Zeynep Tufekci came down to beliefs that I hold that might be considered a bit on the fringe of reasonable thought.
I'm years late, but thank you so much, I don't know why this hasn't gotten more attention. It is an absolutely beautiful defense of the freedom to enjoy life, and in doing so risk it. I feel strongly enough about it, and most people seem to feel strongly enough the opposite way, that it's something I commonly debate with friends and family, and I plan to show this to those of them who are interested. It eloquently and clearly states the case for one of the few things I feel so strongly about that I struggle to talk about it in a reasonable manner, and as such fail to convince others of.

Those are some very good analogies. This is the kind of article that requires one to ponder for a bit before responding in length.
I look forward to it!
Great article but it’s distracting that you consistently mix up ‘effect’ and ‘affect’.
Fair enough - I'll get on that a bit later today.
